Marc Henry explores the malleability of reality in the post-factual era through digital image manipulation in painting. With a background spanning fine arts, economics, and curational studies, his work reflects on societal dynamics, politics and macroeconomics. Drawing iconography from his personal archives, niche image boards and 3D rendering he constructs compositions that merge narration with experimental iconography, building upon the medium's history. His artistic process moves rhythmically between digital and analog, producing pseudo-narratives that blur memory and fabricated reality. In becoming the site for the collision of digital and analogue realms, Henry's research based works transpire painting's appropriateness for engaging with the accretion of modernity.
Marc Henry (*1996, Munich, Germany; lives and works in Vienna) earned a B.Sc in Economics from LMU Munich & an M.A. in Curating from University of Applied Arts Vienna, before he graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna under Daniel Richter. His work has been shown at Belvedere 21, Vienna; Palais Rasumofsky, Vienna; Galerie Kandlhofer, Vienna; Kunsthalle Oktogon, Hitzacker; and Schlossmuseum Murnau.
